Cacoxenite in Amethyst (Super Seven) from Minas Gerais, Brazil - $99.00/lb

Much of our Cacoxenite in Amethyst rough pieces are at least 2″ in length!

Cacoxenite is a wide rutile crystal that forms in quartz. In these stones the cacoxenite is inside of amethyst. This makes for strikingly beautiful cabochons that show a glowing gold inside of transparent to translucent purple amethyst. This material comes from one locality in Minas Gerias, Brazil, and it was mostly mined out years ago. It will polish very nicely with tin or cerium oxides.

This material is also sometimes referred to as “Super Seven”.
