Septarian Nodule Slabs from Utah
Septarian Nodule slabs consists of calcite and aragonite. The crystal formations occur within limestone concretions. This material is relatively soft with a Mohs hardness of 3 to 4 and is easy to carve. You commonly see Septarian Nodules carved into the shapes of buffalo and eggs.
