Mexican Enhanced (Zachary Process) Turquoise Rough

This rough from Nacozari has been enhanced using the Zachary Process, which is a less invasive treatment than stabilization and absolutely no coloring has been added to this turquiose. Nacozari turquoise has a fine blue color which is now hard to find. Turquoise is no longer being produced at the Nacozari Mine and we consider ourselves very lucky to have been able to get this fine blue material from an old collection.

We divided this material into two catagories: #1 and #2 quality. The #1 quality has less quartz and matrix, but may also have a fine spiderwebbing. The #2 will cut fine gems, but if you want matrix-free stones, finished stones will be smaller than the similar size in #1 quality.

Turquoise is a copper-based mineral (hydrated copper aluminum phosphate). Turquoise polishes well with diamond, tin oxide or green rouge.
